دانشگاه ایالتی لوباچفسکی در شهر نیژنی نووگورود (UNN) یکی از بزرگترین دانشگاهی روسیه بوده که در سال ۱۹۱۶ تاسیس شده است. در طی این سال ها این دانشگاه تبدیل به یکی از معتبرترین مراکز تحصیلی روسیه شده است و دانشجویان خارجی زیادی را که علاقمند به تحصیل در روسیه هستند را به خود جذب می کند.
دانشگاه لوباچفسکی روسیه از ۵ موسسه که شامل موسسه روابط بین الملل، تاریخ جهان، زیست شناسی و زیست پزشکی می شوند و ۱۴ دپارتمان در رشته های بنیادی مثل شیمی، مکانیک، ریاضی و حقوق تشکیل شده است. به منظور افزایش دانش دانشجویان و تحقیقاتی که در دانشگاه در حال انجام است، همکاری بین المللی بسیار موفقیت آمیزی با سایر دانشگاه های جهان صورت گرفته است. در همین راستا دانشگاه UNN از سال ۱۹۹۱ با ۹۰ دانشگاه از سرتاسر جهان همکاری داشته است.
چندین پروژه علمی که توسط دولت روسیه حمایت می شوند به منظور راه اندازی آزمایشگا های با کیفیت، توسعه رشته های علمی آینده دار و درگیر کردن دانشجویان درتحقیقات علمی برای تشویق آنها به گسترش ایده های خلاقانه در صنعت و دانشگاه، در دانشگاه UNN در حال اجرا می باشد.
در سال ۲۰۱۴ دانشگاه UNN ابرکامپیوتری به نام لوباچفسکی را در موسسه تحقیقاتی ریاضیات کاربردی و سایبرنتیک راه اندازی کرد. ابر کامپیوتر لوباچفسکی با بیشینه سرعت TFlops 570 (فلاپس یا عملیات ممیّز شناور در ثانیه) اطلاعات را پردازش می کند که از این نظر رتبه سوم در کشور روسیه و یکی از قدرتمندترین ابرکامپیوترها در جهان محسوب می شود.
دانشگاه لوباچفسکی امکانات آموزشی از قبیل کتابخانه ( دارای بیش از ۲ میلیون جلد کتاب)، مرکز تکنولوژی نوآوری، انتشارات دانشگاهی، چاپخانه و ۵ موزه از بهترین موزه جانورشناسی روسیه گرفته تا موزه های باستان شناسی و قوم نگاری را برای یادگیری هرچه بهتر دانشجویان فراهم کرده است.همچنین دانشگاه ایالتی لوباچفسکی شهر نیژنی نووگورود (UNN) عضوء انجمن آکادمی عالی روسیه معروف به پروژه ۵-۱۰۰ (دانشگاه های برتر روسیه) است. در راستای اجرای پروژه تمپوس بیش از ۱۰۰۰ دانشجوی دانشگاه UNN در بهترین دانشگاه های اروپا آموزش دیده و مهارت کسب کردند.
پردیس دانشگاه لوباچفسکی روسیه
بهترین مزیت دانشگاه ایالتی لوباچفسکی شهر نیژنی نووگورود این است که زیرساخت های مخصوص خود را دارد. اکثر دپارتمان ها، ساختمان های اداری، موسسات تحقیقاتی، امکانات ورزشی، خوابگاه ها و ساختمان
اصلی کتابخانه مرکزی UNN در داخل پردیس دانشگاه قرار گرفته اند. دانشگاه UNN در قسمت بالای شهر در خیابان گاگارین ۲۳ام واقع شده است.
دانشجویان بین المللی در خوابگاهای مجهزتری ساکن هستند که در داخل پردیس دانشگاه و نزدیک مرکز شهر واقع شده است. دانشجویان بین المللی در اتاق های دو تخته یا سه تخته ای ساکن هستند که دارای تمامی امکانات لازم است.
سرویس بهداشتی، حمام و آشپزخانه در هر طبقه موجود است. همچنین در هر طبقه از ساختمان های خوابگاه یک کلاس درس نیز وجود دارد.
فروشگاه مخصوص دانشجویان، خواربار فروشی، بانک و مجموعه ورزشی در نزدیکی خوابگاه وجود دارد. مراقب های امنیتی ۲۴ ساعته برای امنیت دانشجویان انجام می شود.

تحقیق و پژوهش اولویت اول دانشگاه UNN است. دانشگاه ایالتی لوباچفسکی شهر نیژنی نووگورود آموزش های پژوهش محور را ارائه می دهد. زمینه های پژوهشی این دانشگاه شامل موضاعات علمی دقیق، علوم طبیعی و علوم انسانی می شود.
در سال ۱۹۹۸ دانشگاه UNN اولین دانشگاه روسیه بود که مرکز تحصیلی و پژوهشی در زمینه نانوتکنولوژی «نانو ساختارهای فیزیک حالت جامد» راه اندازی کرد. در سال تحصیلی ۲۰۱۰-۲۰۱۱ این دانشگاه ۴ عنوان پروژه برای جذب دانشمندان پیشرو جهان به موسسه آموزش عالی روسیه را بدست آورد.
